Hi! I’m Melanie, and I helped Aaron put together this week’s newsletter.
Earlier this year, Aaron and I connected on Instagram because I run a similar local family resource called Sauk County Mom Collective. Since May, I’ve been helping behind the scenes, and it’s been fun getting to know more Madison-area businesses, events, and family-friendly spots along the way.
My husband, son, and I spend a lot of time exploring both Sauk County and the Madison area, looking for outings that feel doable with young kids and a little different from the usual go-tos. One recent favorite was Cave of Lights at Cave of the Mounds, which we checked out for the first time last week. We made a full day of it with a stop at the Makers Market Square and Moho Jo Coffee in Mount Horeb on the way and the Grump Troll on the way home (the kind of simple adventure families around here really love).
If you’re looking for a winter outing that feels a bit unique but still kid-friendly, you can read more about our experience here:

I also regularly share local businesses & events, seasonal guides, and mom-to-mom recommendations through Sauk County Mom Collective with much of it overlapping places Madison-area families already love or might want to explore.
If that sounds like your thing, you’re always welcome to follow along on Facebook and Instagram. I’m also hosting a ticket giveaway on Instagram as we speak for Take Flight Aerial Adventure Theater (in Wisconsin Dells) as they unveil a new feature film, Wonders of the American West.
Thanks for reading — and thanks to Aaron for letting me pop in this week.
