Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost (and not sponsored) ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events and family-friendly ideas in our newsletter and on our calendar.
This week check out:
- July 4th Celebrations. A Saturday is great timing for kids to stay up late for fireworks! Our guide and calendar are full of celebrations, especially Friday and Saturday - plus communities like Stoughton, Sauk Prairie, and Columbus have multi-day festivals to enjoy. Our personal favorites are the free games and sky divers at Waunaboom, the Wife-carry in Monona, and the all the adorable bike parades!
- World Cup game watch. With the US in the knock-out stage, it's a great time to watch with a crowd at Breese Stevens - see the US Wednesday night and other games, plus get inspired to see live soccer games there too - the family ticket pack is a great value.
- First Friday by the Water. Monroe Street does their monthly events, and with a holiday weekend it's a fun time to stroll and check out Wingra Park games and music or any of the shops along the way.
- Concerts on the Square - kids area. The season continues with five more events each Wednesday at the Capitol Square. The concert itself is just part of it - bringing a picnic or enjoying the food carts, plus we love the kids area with hands-on activities from local sponsors before the show each week.
- Warner Park community center Re-opening. Madison Parks have tons of fun "parks alive" and other pop-ups in parks, and next Wednesday we can celebrate an upgraded Warner Park Community Center with free sports, movie, arts, and more mid day.
