Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost (and NEVER sponsored, just our honestly curated favorite) ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events and family-friendly ideas in our newsletter and on our calendar. This week check out:
- July Bodega. [update - postponed given recent news] he World Cup watch parties are over, but Breese Stevens is still a great hang with the family. Friday the bodgea features tons of local vendors, plus a kids area. And get a head start on local shopping at Thursday's grand opening for the Public Market nearby.
- Atwood Fest. [update - canceled given recent news]With the "convergence" a community-led procession to get to the fest on Saturday, leading into a weekend with lots of music, a big kids area, and other entertainment over a few blocks on the east side.
- Kids Fest Sun Prairie. The Children's Museum of Sun Prairie puts on fun kids fest with music, bubbles, samples and activities from other local partners - plus the famous color splash (throw colored chalk - we promise it looks awesome and no one gets hurt!) at the fun Dream Park - one of the best area playgrounds.
- Waunafest. Thursday-Sunday, Waunakee puts on a show with carnival rides, balloons, a climbing wall, magic show, Saturday arts and crafts and the WaunaFest run, and plenty more.
- Restaurant Week. Sunday-Friday, try a new spot, plan a date night (or lunch, often a better value) for a 3-course meal from area spots.
