One of my favorite simple birthday traditions for young kids is putting party hats on their favorite stuffed animals before they wake up in the morning.
We grabbed a cheap pack of hats from the dollar store, sat the stuffed animals around the living room overnight, and it was such a cute surprise in the morning. The next day I took photos with our son wearing a matching hat too and it ended up being one of my favorite birthday pictures ever! Super simple, inexpensive, and fun for toddlers and preschoolers.

Instead of traditional favor bags, we made homemade playdough for guests to take home from one of our birthday parties.
